About Project
In 2020 the Globe-Trotter boutique moved premises from Albemarle Street to the Burlington Arcade. This was, in fact, a return after several years away, as the brand was originally located in this historic arcade for a decade from 2004 to 2014.
Founded in 1897, Globe-Trotter produces luxury luggage and travel accessories made of leather and vulcanised fibreboard, an innovation created by the company and patented in 1902. In Hertfordshire, England, highly specialised craftsmen use original methods and machines from the Victorian period for prestigious customers, such as Sir Winston Churchill, Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II, Daniel Craig and Kate Moss.
A complete made-to-measure service is available by appointment in the store’s private lounge. Here customers are guided through a bespoke design process that allows them to create their own case by choosing the colours, finishes, accessories, shapes, sizes and internal compartments themselves, as well as their own initials from a variety of character styles, dimensions and colours.
For its return to Burlington Arcade, the brand asked Draw Creative Design to create an intimate, welcoming atmosphere in a store that includes an internal workshop, a lounge and even a bar with niche British wines.
iGuzzini provided the team with backup regarding the artificial lighting in both the pre- and after-sales phases. General lighting is provided by recessed, adjustable Laser Blade L luminaires. And the same devices with certain adjustments have been used to highlight architectural features and the paintings on the walls.
To light the shop windows on Burlington Arcade, Palco Low Voltage projectors with a 51 mm diameter have been fitted, whereas for the interiors, the 19 mm diameter version has been used to emphasize the textures of the products displayed in the made-to-measure cabinets. All the luminaires have a colour temperature of 3000 K, a colour rendering index of over 90 and they have been chosen for their minimum dimensions and ability to blend in with the style of the interiors.
